The tearsheet was already the specification. Now it is also the product. Upload a sheet, paste a direct link to one, or open one that is already in the binder and choose Create product: the sheet is filed in Specs, indexed so Ask can cite it, linked to the new item as a Binder Document, and read for its details and photos. The sheet stays where you can find it; the product carries it.
What it does
- Add a product from a tearsheet PDF by uploading the file, pasting a direct link to it, or choosing one already filed in the binder
- File the sheet in the binder's Specs section, indexed so Ask can cite it, and link it to the product as a Binder Document
- Read name, vendor, SKU, prices, dimensions, lead time and category details from the sheet
- Lift the sheet's embedded photos onto the product, largest first; a scanned sheet gets a render of its first page
- Create a product from a binder document's card or from the viewer, then open the board to it
- Choose the room when adding from the board; a product created from the binder lands in Unassigned
What it doesn't do
- Tearsheets are read from PDF files only. Images and office documents are not read as tearsheets
- The first 8 pages of a sheet are read. A sheet over 20 MB is not read
- Up to 4 embedded photos per sheet
- One sheet at a time
- The sheet is filed and linked before it is read, so a sheet that can't be read is still in the binder
