Not every product is clipped at the moment it is found. A link arrives in an email, a text from a rep, a note from last week. Add product on the board takes the link, reads the page, matches or drafts the vendor, chooses the photos, and opens the item for review — in the room you named, as a draft you check before it goes anywhere.
What it does
- Paste a product page link into Add product on the board and choose the room
- Read the product's name, vendor, SKU, prices, dimensions, lead time, origin, description and category details from the page
- Match the vendor by website, then by name; otherwise draft a new vendor record carrying the site
- Seed the item's markup from the vendor's default when the vendor holds one
- Choose up to 6 photos from the page by sight, with a warning when the best one is below print quality
- Open the new item for review the moment it exists
- Hand a link that turns out to be a PDF to the tearsheet path, filed in the binder
What it doesn't do
- A site that shows products only after signing in can't be read from here. Clip it with the Clipper, or print the page to PDF and add it as a tearsheet
- One product page at a time. A collection, search or category page is not read
- A site behind a bot wall, or one that draws the product only in the browser, may give nothing to read
- Nothing rolls back once the item exists. A photo that won't load is a warning on a real item, not a failure
- A read is a snapshot. Prices are not monitored afterwards
